Dr. Nina Lepp

Dr. Nina lives in Kitchener with her husband Jason, daughter Audrey, and son Henrik. Her fur-babies were all adopted as rescues from Gateway Pet Hospital. They included a senior brown tabby named Delilah, an orange tabby named Monty, a Shepherd/Husky cross named Trixie, and a Sheltie named Scarlett.

She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2002.

Dr. Nina loves coming to work and can often be seen researching information to help give the best care to her animal patients and their families. Her interests include veterinary cardiology and ophthalmology.

In her spare time, Nina enjoys spending time with her family, skiing, and traveling.

Dr. Stephanie Thompson

Dr. Stephanie graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 2004. Later that year, she moved to British Columbia with her husband, Chad. Dr. Stephanie practiced mixed animal medicine on a remote island for a year, before settling down to work in a busy small animal practice in North Vancouver. In 2009, she and her husband traveled around the world for a year, volunteering her veterinary services in several of the 24 countries she visited.

Stephanie and Chad moved "home” to the Kitchener/Waterloo area in 2011 to be closer to family while they raise their two young children, Colton and Penelope. Their 90lb mixed breed dog, Nala, has been along for the ride since Vancouver. The whole family loves her…except when she "wags” the kids in the face!

Dr. Stephanie is passionate about preventative medicine, pain management, and quality-of-life management. She also loves a good day in the surgery suite, whether with elective surgery, dentistry, or an emergency surgery. In her spare time, she enjoys running, skiing, hockey, camping, and traveling.

Dr. Rebecca Sterns

Dr. Rebecca lives in Hamilton, Ontario with her 2 rescued pets. Sadie is a 13 year old beagle/coonhoud mix and Ron is a 9 year old domestic shorthair cat (you guessed it, he's an orange tabby named after Ron Weasley from Harry Potter!).

Dr. Rebecca completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2013.

Dr. Rebecca absolutely loves being a veterinarian and helping to improve the quality of life for her canine and feline patients. She has a particular passion for behavioural medicine and her favourite days are when she can help a stressed patient feel more at ease coming into the hospital. She loves animals and wants them to love her right back!

In her spare time she enjoys running with Sadie (still running long distances at 13 years old!), hiking, gardening or relaxing at the cottage or campsite!

Dr. Lauren

Dr. Lauren knew she wanted to become a veterinarian from a very young age. She grew up with a love of all animals and a keen interest in science. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2021 following three years of Animal Biology at the University of Guelph.

During her veterinary studies, she spent the summers working in research at the University. Although the research focused on respiratory disease in cattle, her passion continued to be small animal medicine. Lauren also spent 6 memorable weeks in South Africa with Global Vets working with wildlife on a game reserve.

Dr. Lauren thoroughly enjoys the variety that being a veterinarian has to offer. It provides a lifetime of learning, and no two days are ever the same. She loves making a difference in her patient and client’s lives. Her current interests include surgery and internal medicine.

In her spare time she enjoys hiking with her fiancé Chris, cooking and spending time at the cottage with the rest of her family.

She is passionate about low-stress handling of both feline and canine patients. She enjoys getting to know the clients one-on-one and helping the entire team be their best.

Alex lives with her two fur-babies, Bogey (an orange tabby) and Roxy (an American bulldog, seen in the picture) in Stoney Creek. She deeply misses her bulldog Maggie, who she lost in 2018. She enjoys exploring the local wineries with family and spending as much time as she can by the lake! She and her husband are always finding new adventurous things to do, like boating, sea-doing, and motorbiking! Pop by the clinic anytime if you want to meet Alex as she loves to get to know all of our clients and their family members personally.

Vanessa graduated from Sheridan College in 2014 and became an RVT shortly after. She began her career at a small animal hospital before joining us in March 2015. She loves coming to work every day and can’t help but smile at all the furry faces that walk through our doors.

When not at work, Vanessa is kept busy with her husband and baby boy, Lincoln. They also share their home with a large furry family! With two Rottweilers named Cruiser and Turtle and two cats named Sam and Munchie, it's amazing, they have any time left in the day! She also enjoys working with a rescue group to foster cats until they can find them a forever home.

Heather's special interests as an RVT include emergency care, feline health, and making visits to the clinic as stress free as possible.

Heather lives with her husband and their four children. Her best furry friend is her senior black cat, Aidan, who has been her companion since 2008.

Rosie (on maternity leave)

Registered Veterinary Technician

Rosie graduated from the veterinary technology program at St. Clair College in 2007 and quickly became registered. She is one of the smiling faces you will meet when you come to visit us at Gateway Pet Hospital. One of her strengths is that she is very detail-oriented and works hard to communicate the information needed to our veterinarians to assist with patient care.

Rosie enjoys meeting new people and helping to advise our clients with any questions they have. She lives with her husband, Jordan, and their beautiful little girl Aliana. She also keeps busy taking care of their dogs Pookie and Benny, and their cat, Claire.
