Dr. Nina Lepp

Dr. Nina lives in Kitchener with her husband Jason, daughter Audrey, and son Henrik. Her fur-babies were all adopted as rescues from Gateway Pet Hospital. They included a senior brown tabby named Delilah, an orange tabby named Monty, a Shepherd/Husky cross named Trixie, and a Sheltie named Scarlett.

She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2002.

Dr. Nina loves coming to work and can often be seen researching information to help give the best care to her animal patients and their families. Her interests include veterinary cardiology and ophthalmology.

In her spare time, Nina enjoys spending time with her family, skiing, and traveling.

Dr. Stephanie Thompson

Dr. Stephanie graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 2004. Later that year, she moved to British Columbia with her husband, Chad. Dr. Stephanie practiced mixed animal medicine on a remote island for a year, before settling down to work in a busy small animal practice in North Vancouver. In 2009, she and her husband traveled around the world for a year, volunteering her veterinary services in several of the 24 countries she visited.

Stephanie and Chad moved "home” to the Kitchener/Waterloo area in 2011 to be closer to family while they raise their two young children, Colton and Penelope. Their 90lb mixed breed dog, Nala, has been along for the ride since Vancouver. The whole family loves her…except when she "wags” the kids in the face!

Dr. Stephanie is passionate about preventative medicine, pain management, and quality-of-life management. She also loves a good day in the surgery suite, whether with elective surgery, dentistry, or an emergency surgery. In her spare time, she enjoys running, skiing, hockey, camping, and traveling.

Dr. Barb Burland

Dr. Barb lives in Mannheim with her two sons, Will and Matt. Her furry family used to be full of poodles and doodles but now consists of an extremely friendly small mixed spaniel/terrier rescue named “Maggie”. Due to family allergies, she has to get her fix of felines when at work. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1997.

Barb loves ultrasound and surgery and enjoys diagnosing challenging cases. She will do the best she can to help your pet while taking into consideration your individual circumstances. Barb loves keeping the team at Gateway positive and energized.

In her spare time, Barb enjoys spending time with her family, which includes spectating at baseball but mostly lots of hockey. She also enjoys running, biking, horseback riding, gardening, cottage life, and traveling.

Melissa graduated from Ridgetown College in 2002 as an RVT. Melissa is an outstanding part of our Technician team, working hard on a daily basis to make sure that the animals are well cared for while under her attention. Follow-through is one of the strengths that we feel she contributes, helping to make Gateway Pet Hospital clients feel comfortable bringing their pets to us.

To keep her busy at home, she has a mastiff puppy named Bob, and a cat named Beau. Melissa and her husband Steve are raising two beautiful children, named Lily and Titan.

Meghan completed the Veterinary Technology program at Ridgetown College in the spring of 2009. She worked exclusively with cats for a year before joining the team at Gateway Pet Hospital in July 2010. She grew up surrounded by dogs, cats, and horses.
When not at work, Meghan enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, son, Rowan, two mixed-breed dogs, Matti Mae and Kelvin, and cat, Dante.

Meghan is part of the creative force in designing many of the information flyers posted at Gateway Pet Hospital, and also helping to keep our website up to date. We can count on Meghan to help with organizing our various community and fundraising events throughout the year.

Krissie graduated from Seneca College in 2006 and became an RVT the same year. Krissie enjoys her role as a Registered Veterinary Technician looking after the pets in our hospital. One of the best qualities we see in her is a display of compassion for people and their pets.

She actively participates in the clinic & community events at Gateway Pet Hospital throughout the year. Krissie keeps busy looking after her kids Boston and Sadie and her two cats named Nyla and Jose.

Rosie graduated from the veterinary technology program at St. Clair College in 2007 and quickly became registered. She is one of the smiling faces you will meet when you come to visit us at Gateway Pet Hospital. One of her strengths is that she is very detail-oriented and works hard to communicate the information needed to our veterinarians to assist with patient care.

Rosie enjoys meeting new people and helping to advise our clients with any questions they have. She lives with her husband, Jordan, and their beautiful little girl Aliana. She also keeps busy taking care of their dogs Pookie and Benny, and their cat, Claire.

Vanessa graduated from Sheridan College in 2014 and became an RVT shortly after. She began her career at a small animal hospital before joining us in March 2015. As a child, Vanessa always found herself drawn to animals, so it was inevitable that she chose a career surrounded by them. She loves coming to work every day and can’t help but smile at all the furry faces that walk through our doors.

When not at work, Vanessa is kept busy with her husband and baby boy, Lincoln. They also share their home with a large furry family! With two Rottweilers named Cruiser and Turtle and two cats named Sam and Munchie, it's amazing, they have any time left in the day! She also enjoys working with a rescue group to foster cats until they can find them a forever home.

She has been dancing since she was three years old and even received a Diploma in Dance from George Brown College. She enjoys teaching dance as well whenever she can.

Sarah graduated from Georgian College in April 2019 and is currently working on becoming registered. Even though she is a new graduate and is still finding her passion, she has taken an interest in dentistry, surgery, and nutrition. She strives to learn as much as she can here at Gateway.

When not working, Sarah enjoys spending her time with her two dogs, Koby- a Black Lab cross and her new puppy Willow – a Bernese Mountain Dog. Sarah enjoys training her dogs and teaching them new tricks. Sarah tries not to go anywhere without her two dogs! She likes to take them on long walks, hikes and loves to bring them camping.

Sarah has always had a love for animals. Before she became a technician, you would catch her on the goat farm she worked at, or as a camp counselor, teaching children how to ride horses. Sarah used to be on a wrestling team and placed 1st in Ontario and 3rd in Canada. She now enjoys spending time helping to coach a high school team and a club team.

Angel graduated in 2012 from St. Lawrence College and became an RVT the same year. Angel started working at Gateway Pet Hospital in February 2019. Previously Angel worked in other small animal clinics and an emergency veterinary clinic. Angel enjoys the many different aspects of being a Registered Veterinary Technician, but her favorite areas are dentistry and nutrition. Angel has two cats, Indigo and Trevor.

In Angel’s spare time, she enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Alexandra Gill

Hospital Manager

Alex joined our team in 2018. Her journey to find us started at a feline-only practice in Hamilton in 2006 as a receptionist. Before coming to Gateway, Alex managed a small animal practice in Mississauga.

She is passionate about low-stress handling of both feline and canine patients. She enjoys getting to know the clients one-on-one and helping the entire team be their best.

Alex lives with her husband, Ryan, and their two fur-babies, Bogey (an orange tabby) and Roxy (an American bulldog, seen in the picture) in Stoney Creek. She deeply misses her bulldog Maggie, who she lost in 2018. She enjoys exploring the local wineries with family and spending as much time as she can by the lake! She and her husband are always finding new adventurous things to do, like boating, sea-doing, and motorbiking! Pop by the clinic anytime if you want to meet Alex as she loves to get to know all of our clients and their family members personally.

Presently, she has a Shih Tzu-Cocker mix named Oreo, a German Shepherd named Chevy and two cats named Buddy and Garfield.
