Anna Marie was born in Delaware and moved to Canada in 2014 to attend the University of Guelph. She loved it so much here that she decided to stay, and became a Permanent Resident in 2021. She has worn many different hats as an outdoor educator, a trail riding guide, a French teacher, and a volunteer in a large animal clinic. Working at Gateway is one of her favourite hats she has worn!
Anna Marie has a passion for animal training and behaviour. She is a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy's highest level of education and holds the title of Certified Training Partner. At Gateway, Anna Marie puts her education to use working alongside Dr. Rebecca to help patients with behavioural struggles. She is proud to offer the Victory Visit program for fearful patients, helping them to achieve fear-free vet visits through a targeted approach. She believes all pets deserve access to stress-free, quality veterinary care. Outside of Gateway, Anna Marie runs her own dog training business, Beast Behaviour. She takes a holistic approach towards training and behaviour modification, using the most up-to-date, welfare-centered techniques to help dogs and their people.
Outside of work, Anna Marie loves the outdoors and spends long hours exploring the nearby woods with her Silken Windhound, Margo. She also spends much of her time clicker training her horse, Lola and snuggling her beloved senior cats, Aggie, Lucy and Squid. She enjoys painting, caring for many houseplants, and reading a good book.
