Make a list of all the questions that you have about your pet’s health for the veterinary technician and doctor to answer. We want to make sure we address all your concerns.

- Bring a fresh urine sample. This is particularly important if your pet has been drinking more than normal or having accidents in the house. However, a urinalysis is an important part of many wellness and sick pet workups. For dogs, it can be collected in a clean container. Although the first urination of the morning is preferred, the sample should be less than 3 hours old and stored in the fridge until arrival. For cats, take the litter box away 3-4 hours prior to the appointment and we will be able to collect the sample at the hospital, and do not use a blanket in your carrier (as a last resort, if they urinate in their carrier we can collect that sample).

- Is your pet coughing? If so, please let us know in advance as he/she may be contagious to other pets. We may ask you to leave your pet in the car, wait outside, or go directly into the exam room.
❏ Bring a picture of your pet’s food bag that includes the name and brand, as well as a picture of the ingredient list and nutritional information. We like to discuss nutrition in all our appointments. If you can't take a picture, write it down.*
❏ Write down exactly how much you feed your pet (note is your “scoop” equivalent to 1 cup? ½ cup?).*
❏ What treats, chews, human food, extras does your pet get and how much?*

- Bring a fresh sample of your pets stool. Many pets carry parasites with NO clinical signs, so getting your pet checked yearly is recommended. This is especially important if your pet is around children or immunocompromised individuals. In winter months, please ensure the sample does not freeze.

- Bring all the medications and supplements that you give to your pet and make sure that the person attending the appointment knows how much the pet gets. We want to ensure that everything you are giving is being given properly, is safe for your pet and does not have any adverse reactions with medications we might want to dispense.

- Please arrive at your scheduled appointment time. We strive to run on time, and late arrivals can set us back. We want to ensure that you get the time you need with the veterinary team. Give yourself some extra time, especially if your pet has health concerns, as we don’t want you to be rushed. Sometimes, a very sick patient or an emergency might set us behind. We will do our best to keep you updated if we are running behind.

- Please have all dogs on a regular leash (not extendable leashes please) and all cats in carriers. Do not allow your pet to approach other animals in the waiting room in attempts to prevent anxiety, stress, spread of disease, and altercations. We do have a separate waiting area for cats. We are happy to lend you a leash upon arrival. We also have cat/small dog carriers that we can lend you.

- Inform us if your pet has any special needs. It is helpful for us to know if your pet is aggressive with other pets or humans. If you pet is extremely fearful or anxious, we might be able to recommend a medication to help calm him/her prior to coming in to the hospital. If your pet requires stronger sedation to be examined, we may need to book the appointment accordingly.

- Bring previous veterinary records if this is your first time meeting with our veterinary team. We prefer to have previous medical records faxed or emailed to us in advance of your appointment so that we can review them and be prepared for your visit. We are happy to call your previous clinic for you.
Please don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns prior to your appointment. If you are unable to make your appointment, please give us 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule so that we can accommodate another patient in your place.
