Gateway Pet Hospital is a progressive small animal hospital which has been in its current modern South Kitchener location since 2011. You are an animal lover first and foremost, with a passion and dedication to provide an excellent and compassionate customer and patient service experience. You are skilled at multi-tasking and self-managing changing priorities. You are open and comfortable collaborating with the entire hospital team to ensure patients receive the best care possible.
As our Ideal Candidate, you have the following experience and skills:
- Registered Veterinary Technician status
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings and Saturday/Sunday shifts
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
- Compassionate and safe patient handling skills
- Ability to keep calm and positive in stressful situations
- Advocate for our patients and fellow team mates.
The duties of an RVT can't possibly be summarized in one paragraph! However, duties of this role include surgical preparation and assistance, anesthesia monitoring, care of hospitalized patients, exam room duties, dental prophylaxis, dental and digital radiology, lab testing including in-house fecals and urnialysis', and general hospital and equipment maintenance and care. We rely heavily on the education of our RVT's to advocate for our patients and to continue to help us grow our practice by keeping a social media presence, eCommerce online shopping for clients, training and shaping assistants and volunteers that want to learn and striving to have a positive and safe work environment.
