Dr. Nina Lepp
Dr. Nina lives in Kitchener with her husband Jason, daughter Audrey, and son Henrik. She has recently added to her family a 2-year-old rescued brown tabby named Delilah, a ravishing red tabby named Monty, and a shepherd cross named Trixie. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2002.
She loves coming to work and can often be seen researching information to help give the best care to her animal patients and their families. Her interests include veterinary cardiology and ophthalmology.
In her spare time, Nina enjoys spending time with her family, camping, skiing, and travelling. Honk and wave if you see her driving around in the Gateway Pet Hospital Matrix!
Dr. Stephanie Thompson
Dr. Stephanie graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 2004. Later that year, she moved to British Columbia with her husband Chad. She practiced mixed animal medicine on a remote island for a year, before settling down to work in a busy small animal practice in North Vancouver. In 2009, she and her husband travelled around the world for a year, volunteering her veterinary services in several of the 24 countries she visited.
Stephanie and Chad moved "home” to the Kitchener/Waterloo area in 2011 to be closer to family while they raise their two young children, Colton and Penelope. Their 90lb Mixed Breed dog, Nala, has been along for the ride for the past 4 years. She is well loved by the whole family…except when she "wags” the kids in the face!
Dr. Stephanie is passionate about preventative medicine (let’s catch these problems before they start!). She enjoys dentistry, surgery, and pain management. In her spare time, she loves running, skiing, hockey, camping and travelling.
Dr. Barb Burland
Dr. Barb lives in Mannheim with her husband Morris and sons, William and Matthew. Her furry family consists of two dogs, a standard poodle named Oatie and a golden doodle named Buddy. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1997.
Barb loves ultrasound and surgery and enjoys challenging cases. She will do the best she can to help your pet while taking into consideration individual circumstances.
In her spare time, Barb enjoys spending time with her family which includes spectating at soccer, baseball and hockey games. She also enjoys running, biking, horseback riding, gardening and travelling.
Melissa graduated from Ridgetown College in 2002 as an RVT. Melissa is an outstanding part of our Technician team, working hard on a daily basis to make sure that the animals are well cared for while under her attention. Follow-through is one of the strengths that we feel she contributes, helping to make Gateway Pet Hospital clients feel comfortable bringing their pets to us.
To keep her busy at home, she has two dogs: a bulldog named Flower, a mastiff named Belvedere, and a cat named Tommy. Melissa and her husband Steve are raising two beautiful children, named Lily and Titan.
Meghan completed the Veterinary Technology program at Ridgetown College in the spring of 2009, and worked exclusively with cats for a year before joining the team at Gateway Pet Hospital in July 2010. She grew up surrounded by dogs, cats, and horses.
When not at work, Meghan enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, son, Rowan, 2 mixed-breed dogs, Matti Mae and Kelvin, and cat, Dante.
Meghan is part of the creative force in designing many of the information flyers posted at Gateway Pet Hospital, and also helping to keep our website up to date. We can count on Meghan to help with organizing our various community and fundraising events throughout the year.
Krissie graduated from Seneca College in 2006 and became an RVT the same year. Krissie enjoys her role as a Registered Veterinary Technician looking after the pets in our hospital. One of the best qualities we see in her is a display of compassion for people and their pets.
She actively participates in the clinic & community events at Gateway Pet Hospital throughout the year. Krissie is kept busy looking after her kids Boston and Sadie, a dog named Seven and her two cats named Nyla and Jose.
Rosie graduated from the veterinary technology program at St. Clair College in 2007, and quickly became registered. She is one of the smiling faces you will meet when you come to visit us at Gateway Pet Hospital. One of her strengths is that she is very detail-oriented and works hard to communicate the information needed to our veterinarians to assist with patient care.
She enjoys meeting new people and helping to advise our clients with any questions they have. She lives with her husband Jordan, and keeps busy taking care of her bulldog, Benny, and cat, Claire.
Vanessa graduated from Sheridan College in 2014 and became and RVT shortly after. She began her career at a small animal hospital before joining us in March 2015. As a child she always found herself drawn to animals, so it was inevitable that she chose a career surrounded by them. She loves coming to work every day and can’t help but smile at all the furry faces that walk through our doors.
When not at work, Vanessa is kept busy with her own furry family. She and her husband have a Rottweiler named Cruiser, 2 cats named Sam and Munchie, and they also enjoy working with a rescue group and foster cats until they can find their forever home. Even though she is very busy, she still finds time to go to dance classes.
She has been dancing since she was 3 years old and even received a Diploma in Dance from George Brown College. She enjoys teaching dance as well whenever she can.
Rebecca graduated from Seneca College in 2013 where she was able to work with a variety of animals but took special interest in working with cats, dogs, rodents and exotics. She started her career as a registered veterinary technician in a small animal practice before joining our team in 2015. Rebecca enjoys client education, weight management, radiography and dentistry.
She believes that we should use our knowledge and skills to give back to those who are less fortunate and you will find her volunteering with some of the local animal fundraisers in K-W. Rebecca visited Nepal in 2015 for two months where she was able to work with the stray dogs and cats of the Kathmandu valley, an experience she will never forget!
Rebecca loves spending time with her friends and family, including her cats and border collie mix named Tucker. In her free time she enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, yoga and horseback riding.
